fC Parkinson's Living Assistance

If you or a family member has recently been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's disease, you are not alone.  In the United States, each year, 50,000 to 60,000 people are diagnosed with this disease.

Parkinson's is a slow progressing neurodegenerative brain disorder.  Parkinson's disease occurs when brain cells in the substantia nigra stop producing adequate amounts of dopamine.  Dopamine is the chemical that we rely on to control the smooth movements of our bodies.  Symptoms of Parkinson's occur after 60 to 80% of the dopamine producing cells are damaged.

Parkinson's affects many aspects of life, requiring a person to have a reliable care team that communicates often.   After a receiving a Parkinson's diagnosis you are never alone; you have family, friends, medical professionals, occupational therapists, and FamilyCARES! to rely on when you need support at home.  You can expect existing relationships to strengthen and new ones to blossom.

While you may need extra support, you are still very much in control of your life!  There will be times that you need support, but we have you covered.  We have a select group of CAREPARTNERS that specialize in supporting our clients with Parkinson's.  At fC, every Parkinson's certified CAREPARTNER is also a certified nursing assistant (CNA).  We feel that it is vitally important that our care professionals understand as much about Parkinson's as possible in order to appropriately and confidently support your loved one.  fC CAREPARTNERS must pass a Parkinson's exam in order to be considered for a FamilyMATCH with your loved one.

If you or a loved one needs Parkinson's specific care, have questions, or just need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to call Paul, founding director of FamilyCARES!
