CAREPARTNERS vs. Traditional Caregivers

The home health care industry has labeled traditional non-medical home care providers as "caregivers."  FamilyCARES! welcomes coachable "caregivers" into our family and retrains them using our elevated standards of quality care.  After completing our training program and successfully passing a challenging step one entrance exam, their job title changes from caregiver to CAREPARTNER.

"To give care with purpose means to provide care as a PARTNER."
                                                                                              - Paul Goldbeck Founder

The word "caregiver" automatically assumes less responsibility on the part of the client.  Just because your elder parent or family member needs extra support at home does not mean they can stop participating in their daily routines.  It actually means the opposite!  Trained professionals who work with seniors know the importance of maintaining, and building on, a client's baseline muscle mass.  As CARE PARTNERS, we aim to support and build on our client's psychological and physical baseline states.  If Mom suddenly stops doing regular things around the house, feelings of independence decrease rather than increase.  We provide SMARTSUPPORT; the right amount of assistance that requires your elder parent's participation.

Example:  Mom can no longer complete the entire clothes washing
and drying routine without becoming exhausted.  When a CAREPARTNER
arrives on the scene, they are trained to identify the parts of the process
that tire Mom out for the rest of the day.  We figure out that Mom can
still fold her laundry, but needs some help loading and unloading it into

the washer/dryer.  By remaining a participant in the clothes washing
process, Mom maintains critical strength in her arms, hands, and trunk
while also maintaining her feelings of independence.  "I can't even do my
own wash!" turns into "I can do my own wash with a little help from Sue
                my CAREPARTNER)."

Our CAREPARTNERS live by the principle:  "Use it or lose it!"  When a client is able to do something on their own, we never provide assistance unless directly asked.  However, when a client needs support, our CAREPARTNERS are trained to identify times of vulnerability before they even happen.  Depending on the established need, our CAREPARTNER will complete the necessary task in its entirety, or simply lend a helpful hand.

At FamilyCARES!, the industry's traditional "caregiver" goes through a rigorous retraining program to become a CAREPARTNER.  Our family is composed of certified nursing assistants and care professionals who have proven themselves to be motivated, knowledgable, and trustworthy.  Long periods of training and very serious background checks take place before CAREPARTNERS are permitted to provide care. Aggressive payments schedules strengthen our employee's resolve and justify our demanding expectations for superior care.

Each and every professional that is invited into the FamilyCARES! network
has displayed a true sense of self, has a natural curiosity about their world, and genuinely wants to help Pennsylvania's elderly citizens.  We only train and hire qualified professionals who show evidence of exceptional ability.  Our CAREPARTNERS naturally make everyone around them feel safe and strong.
